Dump Trailer Battery Charging

Battery Charging and Maintenance

For optimal performance, dump trailer batteries require charging from the tow vehicle.

Our trailers come with a 3/4" LED indicator located on the pump box's back wall. When your truck is running and providing charge through the 7-way plug, this LED will illuminate as you press the up or down button on the trailer.

Should the LED fail to indicate charging, it's essential to inspect the truck's 7-way plug following our provided wiring diagrams.

For those utilizing a standard 110-volt outlet and the onboard battery maintainer within the pump box, a continuous connection of at least three days is needed between uses to ensure adequate charge, underscoring the importance of having the tow vehicle charge the trailer's battery.

In instances where overnight charging is necessary, and the tow vehicle isn't supplying charge via the 7-way plug, a more powerful charger, with a minimum of a 30-amp charge rate, should be used to charge the trailer's battery.
